Empaths and the Energy of Joy: Raising Your Vibration This Summer

As empaths and highly sensitive souls, we often feel everything so deeply—the weight of the world, the emotions of those around us, the energetic shifts of the seasons, even the subtle undercurrents in a room. And while this sensitivity is a sacred gift, it can also lead us into states of overwhelm, emotional fatigue, and energetic depletion if we’re not mindful of our own needs.


But joy—ah, joy is a balm. And more than that, joy is a vibrational frequency. It’s not just a fleeting emotion or something that only visits us when life is going “right.” Joy is a state of being, an energetic current we can choose to tap into, nourish, and carry with us.


During the summer months, when the light lingers and nature is alive with color and sound, we are offered a powerful opportunity to reconnect with this frequency. The energy of summer naturally lifts us. The sun itself is a radiant source of solar power and joy, inviting us to expand, bloom, and bask in the fullness of life. And for empaths, this seasonal energy can be both healing and activating—if we consciously choose to welcome it.


So how do we, as sensitive beings, begin to attune ourselves to the energy of joy?


It starts with remembering that joy is our birthright. It's not a reward for productivity. It’s not something we have to earn. It lives within us, woven into the fabric of our spirit. But often, it's buried beneath layers of fear, guilt, or simply the noise of the world. As part of our energetic hygiene—just like grounding, clearing, and protecting—we must also invite joy into our field. We must tend to joy as we would a precious flame.


One of my favorite ways to do this is through intention and daily energetic check-ins. Each morning, before the world gets loud, place your hand on your heart and ask: What would bring me joy today? Let the answer rise from your soul—not your to-do list. Maybe it's a walk in the sunshine, dancing to your favorite music, wearing a color that lifts your spirit, or simply choosing to pause and breathe with presence.


Crystals like sunstone, citrine, carnelian, and rose quartz are beautiful allies for this work. They hold a joyful, light-filled vibration and can help you attune to your inner radiance. You might carry one with you, wear it as jewelry, or place it on your altar with the intention of amplifying joy throughout your day.


I also encourage my clients to cultivate joy through embodiment—moving energy through the body in a way that feels pleasurable and freeing. This could be dancing barefoot in your kitchen, stretching slowly while listening to the birds, or practicing heart-opening breathwork under the summer sky. When we bring the frequency of joy into the body, we make it real. We anchor it into our nervous system and our auric field.


And because life can feel heavy at times—especially for those of us who feel everything so deeply—I want to share a simple ritual you can use whenever you feel overwhelmed, unbalanced, or ungrounded:


A Simple Joy Ritual for Empaths

Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed, ideally near a window or outside if possible.

Light a candle or hold a joyful crystal like sunstone or citrine in your hand.

Close your eyes and take three deep, slow breaths.

Place both hands over your heart and whisper softly:

“I am safe. I am supported. I am open to joy.”


Then, begin to imagine a warm, golden light radiating from the center of your chest—bright like sunlight, soft like honey. With each breath, feel it grow. Let it fill your body, your aura, your space. Let it wrap around your shoulders like a hug from the Universe.


Smile, even if only slightly. Let your nervous system feel what it’s like to smile from the inside out.

When you’re ready, say:

“I welcome the energy of joy into my being. I allow it to uplift, restore, and guide me.”


Stay in this energy for as long as you like. When you’re done, thank yourself for taking this moment. Carry that golden light with you.


Summer is a time to soften into joy, to say yes to spontaneity, play, laughter, and pleasure—not as an escape, but as a return. A return to your light. A return to the truth that joy is healing. Joy is nourishment. And joy is just as much a part of your spiritual practice as shadow work, cord cutting, or chakra balancing.


So, as you walk through these warm, golden days, let joy be your guide. Let it rise within you like the sun. Let it radiate from your heart and ripple out into everything you touch. Not only do you deserve it—you are it.
