Dragon Fires Everywhere
Dragon Fires Everywhere by Hazel Beck
This book is the fourth and final installment in the Witchlore series, which I began reading back in 2024. I plan to review each of the books individually, but since I just finished this one, I couldn't wait to share my thoughts. If you haven't started the series yet, consider this your gentle spoiler warning. If, while reading this review, you find yourself thinking this might be exactly your kind of series, stop here and go read these books!
I truly loved this series. It's romantasy, but in a wonderfully gentle, whimsical way. The romance isn't overly spicy or filled with unnecessary drama. Instead, it's heartfelt, honest, and genuinely sweet. Don't get me wrong—I enjoy a spicy romance too—but sometimes this softer kind of love story is exactly what I'm looking for. The magical conflicts and challenges always carry enough tension to keep you invested without pushing into nervous system overload, making this a cozy, comforting read that still feels exciting.
One of my favorite aspects of the Witchlore series is its layered magic system. To outsiders, St. Cyprian appears to be an ordinary Midwestern river town, but beneath its everyday surface lives an ancient magical world filled with covens, hidden histories, powerful enchantments, and, in this final book, long-forgotten shifter magic waiting to be uncovered.
As someone who loves witchy fiction, fantasy, and romance, this series felt like it was written for readers exactly like me. I especially appreciate books that don't feel cheesy but still offer plenty of magic, heart, and adventure. Sometimes I simply want a story that lets me relax while still completely drawing me into its world, and this series does exactly that.
This final installment expands the magical world in such delightful ways, including a broody dragon shifter, a mermaid, and one of my favorite revelations of the entire series—a Crow King and his people, who had secretly found a way to work around an ancient curse that had trapped so many other magical beings for centuries. Their story added another layer of mystery and made the magical world feel even richer and more imaginative.
At the heart of this story is Georgie Pendell, who is preparing to step into her new role as the official historian for the Riverwood Coven. Still carrying the weight of heartbreak and questioning where she belongs, Georgie accidentally breaks an ancient enchantment while reading from a magical childhood storybook. In doing so, she frees Azrael, a dragon shifter who has spent centuries trapped beneath a powerful curse.
What follows is both an enchanting adventure and a deeply personal journey. Together, Georgie and Azrael set out to uncover an ancient source of magic before the rival Joywood Coven can claim it for themselves. Along the way, Georgie finds herself digging through forgotten histories, uncovering long-buried family secrets, and facing the consequences of choices made generations before her.
The romance between Georgie and Azrael is one of my favorite parts of the novel. Their connection feels immediate, but the trust between them unfolds naturally. Azrael is fiercely protective without overshadowing Georgie's own growth, encouraging her to trust herself, reclaim her confidence, and fully embrace the strength that has always been within her. Their relationship beautifully complements the larger themes of found family, healing old wounds, choosing love over fear, and discovering that our past doesn't have to define our future.
As the conclusion to the Witchlore series, Dragon Fires Everywhere ties together many of the threads woven throughout the previous books while delivering a satisfying and emotional ending that felt both hopeful and well-earned.
If you're looking for an easy-to-read romantasy filled with witches, dragons, hidden magic, found family, and a romance that's sweet rather than overly spicy, I can't recommend the Witchlore series enough. It's the kind of series that invites you to curl up with a cozy blanket, a warm drink, and simply enjoy spending time in a magical world that feels both comforting and full of wonder.
For me, this series was the perfect reminder that fantasy doesn't always have to be dark or emotionally exhausting to be memorable. Sometimes the most magical stories are the ones that leave you feeling hopeful, connected, and just a little reluctant to say goodbye to the characters when the final page is turned.
I would especially recommend this series for readers who enjoy cozy romantasy, gentle magical adventures, found family, magical small towns, and romances that prioritize emotional connection alongside the fantasy.
