A Solar Ritual

Reconnecting With Your Inner Light, Vitality & Personal Power

There are times when we naturally feel connected to ourselves—our energy feels clear, our confidence feels steady, and we move through life with a greater sense of purpose and trust.

And then there are times when that connection feels a little more distant.

We may find ourselves questioning our decisions, feeling disconnected from the things that normally bring us joy, struggling to move forward, or simply feeling as though our inner light has dimmed.

A Solar Ritual can offer a beautiful way to intentionally reconnect with that light.

For centuries, the Sun has represented life, warmth, vitality, illumination, strength, and renewal. Within spiritual practice, solar energy can also symbolize confidence, creativity, courage, personal power, abundance, joy, and our willingness to live authentically.

Working with solar energy isn't about becoming louder, more forceful, or more outwardly confident. I think of it as remembering the steady light that already exists within us.

Just as the Sun doesn't question whether it should rise each morning, solar work can remind us that we don't need permission to take up our own sacred space, trust our gifts, experience joy, or live in a way that reflects who we truly are.

This ritual is an invitation to reconnect with that part of yourself.

☀️ When to Work With a Solar Ritual

You don't need to wait for a particular astrological event or season to work with solar energy.

You might feel called to this ritual when you're:

  • Beginning something new

  • Moving through a period of self-doubt

  • Rebuilding confidence after a difficult experience

  • Feeling disconnected from your creativity or joy

  • Preparing to take a courageous step forward

  • Wanting to strengthen your relationship with your personal power

  • Celebrating something you've accomplished

  • Calling more abundance or possibility into your life

  • Feeling energetically depleted or disconnected from yourself

  • Ready to express yourself more authentically

You may choose to practice outside beneath the Sun, near a sunny window, at sunrise, during the warmth of midday, or indoors with a candle representing solar light.

Sunday is traditionally associated with the Sun and can be a beautiful day for solar work, but please don't allow correspondences to become rules.

Your intuition matters more than choosing the "perfect" day or time.

If you feel called to the practice, that's enough.

🌻 Creating Your Solar Ritual

This ritual is meant to be personalized.

You don't need every crystal, herb, candle, or tool listed here. Choose what feels meaningful to you and leave behind what doesn't.

Your presence and intention are the most important parts of the practice.

Prepare Your Space

Choose a place where you can be undisturbed for a little while.

If you're able to safely spend time outside, you may enjoy allowing natural sunlight to become part of your practice. You can also sit near a sunny window or create your own representation of solar energy indoors.

You might gather:

  • A gold, yellow, orange, or white candle

  • Your journal and pen

  • One or two crystals

  • Fresh or dried flowers or herbs

  • An essential oil or diffuser

  • Your favorite oracle deck

  • A meaningful piece of jewelry or another small object that can become your Solar Anchor

  • A glass of water or warm herbal tea

Arrange your items in whatever way feels beautiful and intentional to you.

Then take a moment to simply look at the space you've created.

Allow it to remind you that you're choosing this time for yourself.

🌿 Ground Before You Expand

Before connecting with solar energy, begin by grounding.

Place both feet firmly on the floor or earth.

Take several slow breaths.

Bring your awareness into your body.

Notice where you're sitting.

Notice your feet.

Notice your breath.

Imagine roots extending from the bottoms of your feet deep into the earth beneath you.

With each breath, allow yourself to become a little more present and steady.

You might quietly say:

"I am grounded. I am present. I am safe within my own energy."

Spend as much time here as you need.

Especially for empaths and highly sensitive people, I believe grounding is an important part of any practice that invites us to expand energetically. We don't have to leave ourselves in order to connect with something greater.

We can remain rooted while allowing ourselves to open.

☀️ Connecting With Solar Energy

When you feel grounded, gently close your eyes.

If you're outside or sitting near a window, allow yourself to notice the warmth of the Sun against your skin without staring directly at it.

If you're practicing indoors, light your candle and allow its flame to represent the warmth and vitality of the Sun.

Imagine a soft golden light surrounding you.

Rather than immediately drawing that light into your body, simply notice it.

Feel its warmth.

Feel its steadiness.

Allow yourself to receive.

When you feel ready, imagine the golden light gently moving toward your heart and solar plexus.

Place one hand over your heart and the other over the area above your navel.

Breathe slowly.

With each inhale, imagine the light becoming a little warmer and brighter.

With each exhale, allow tension, self-doubt, and any energy that doesn't belong to you to gently soften and release.

There is nothing you need to force.

Simply allow yourself to reconnect.

💛 Heart & Solar Plexus Connection

The solar plexus is often associated with confidence, personal power, self-worth, motivation, and our ability to take action.

But personal power without connection to the heart can feel very different from the kind of confidence I hope to cultivate within my own spiritual practice.

For me, true personal power is grounded in authenticity.

It's knowing who you are while remaining compassionate.

It's honoring your needs without diminishing the needs of others.

It's trusting yourself without needing to prove yourself.

It's allowing yourself to shine without believing anyone else needs to become smaller.

With one hand still resting over your heart and the other over your solar plexus, imagine a warm golden light connecting these two energy centers.

Allow your heart to soften your power.

Allow your solar plexus to strengthen your heart.

Breathe into that connection.

When you feel ready, quietly say:

"May I move through my life with an open heart and steady confidence. May I trust my gifts, honor my truth, and allow my inner light to guide me."

Remain here for several breaths.

✨ Solar Reflection

When you feel ready, open your journal.

Take your time with the following questions. You don't need to answer them all. Trust whichever question seems to be calling for your attention.

  • What genuinely lights me up?

  • Where in my life do I feel most alive and connected to myself?

  • What part of myself is asking to be expressed more fully?

  • Where am I ready to trust myself more deeply?

  • What strength within myself deserves to be acknowledged?

  • What am I proud of that I haven't fully allowed myself to celebrate?

  • What opportunity, idea, or possibility feels exciting to me right now?

  • Where am I ready to move forward with greater courage?

  • What would change if I allowed myself to believe I am worthy of receiving support, joy, and abundance?

  • What does living from my authentic light look like for me right now?

Notice what emerges without immediately judging or analyzing it.

Sometimes what lights us up is also what scares us a little.

Give yourself permission to explore both.

🌞 Choose Your Solar Intention

After reflecting, notice whether a particular word, feeling, or theme continues to rise to the surface.

Perhaps it's:

Courage.

Joy.

Confidence.

Creativity.

Vitality.

Abundance.

Self-Trust.

Authenticity.

Rather than focusing only on something you want to accomplish, consider choosing a quality you want to embody.

Ask yourself:

"How do I want to show up in my life?"

Then create a simple intention around your answer.

For example:

"I choose to trust myself as I step into new opportunities."

"I welcome more joy into my everyday life."

"I allow myself to share my gifts with confidence and authenticity."

"I am open to receiving the abundance and support already making its way toward me."

Write your intention in your journal.

Then take a moment to feel what it would be like to live from that intention rather than simply thinking about it.

🔮 Inner Sun Oracle Spread

If you'd like to incorporate your oracle cards into this ritual, shuffle your deck while holding your Solar Intention gently in your awareness.

When you feel ready, draw one to three cards.

Card One

What within me is ready to be illuminated?

Card Two

What strength am I being invited to embody?

Card Three

How can I carry this energy into my everyday life?

Before reaching for your guidebook, spend a few moments looking at each card.

Notice the imagery.

Notice the colors.

Notice any words or symbols that immediately draw your attention.

And most importantly, notice how the card makes you feel.

Allow your intuition to speak first.

Then, if you wish, read the traditional meaning and notice how it adds another layer to what you've already received.

☀️ Anchoring the Light

Return your hands to your heart and solar plexus.

Close your eyes.

Imagine the golden solar light you've been working with becoming concentrated within these two areas.

Rather than imagining yourself holding onto an outside source of energy, allow the light to become a reminder of what already exists within you.

Your courage.

Your joy.

Your wisdom.

Your creativity.

Your resilience.

Your capacity to begin again.

Take a slow breath and imagine that light expanding gently throughout your body.

Allow it to move through your chest, shoulders, arms, belly, legs, and feet.

Then imagine it settling.

Grounded.

Steady.

Present.

Quietly repeat your Solar Intention one final time.

🌻 Create a Solar Anchor

Before closing your ritual, choose one small item to serve as a reminder of the intention you've created.

This might be:

  • A crystal

  • A piece of jewelry

  • A small sun symbol

  • A flower or dried herb

  • A written affirmation

  • A candle

  • An oracle card from your reading

  • Another meaningful object you're naturally drawn toward

Keep your Solar Anchor somewhere you'll see it.

You might place it on your altar, beside your bed, on your desk, carry it in your pocket, or wear it throughout the day.

Whenever you notice it, pause for one breath and remember your intention.

The ritual may end, but the practice continues through the small choices you make afterward.

🔮 Solar Allies

These correspondences are offered as possibilities rather than requirements.

You certainly don't need to work with all of them—or any of them.

Choose what you're naturally drawn toward.

Crystals

Sunstone

Supports joy, confidence, optimism, vitality, and authentic self-expression. A beautiful ally when you're ready to reconnect with your own inner radiance.

Citrine

Associated with confidence, abundance, optimism, creativity, and personal empowerment. Citrine can be especially supportive when you're opening yourself to new possibilities.

Carnelian

A wonderful companion for creativity, motivation, courage, and inspired action. Carnelian can help support the transition from thinking about something to taking a grounded step toward it.

Tiger's Eye

Encourages confidence, discernment, courage, and grounded personal power. I especially love Tiger's Eye when we need both strength and steadiness.

Plants & Flowers

Sunflower

A beautiful symbol of vitality, joy, warmth, and turning toward the light.

Calendula

Associated with solar energy, warmth, joy, and vitality. Fresh or dried calendula can make a lovely addition to your sacred space.

Rosemary

Traditionally connected with purification, clarity, protection, and the Sun. Rosemary can be incorporated into your altar space or simply enjoyed as a fresh or dried plant ally.

Essential Oils

Sweet Orange

Bright, uplifting, and joyful. Sweet Orange can help create an atmosphere of warmth and possibility.

Frankincense

Grounding and contemplative, making it a beautiful complement to more expansive solar energy.

Bergamot

Often associated with upliftment, confidence, and emotional brightness.

Always use essential oils safely and according to the appropriate dilution and application guidelines for the oil you're working with.

Colors

Gold • Yellow • Orange • Warm White

You can incorporate these colors through candles, flowers, fabric, crystals, your clothing, or anything else that feels meaningful.

Element

Fire

Fire represents transformation, vitality, inspiration, passion, and the spark that encourages us to create and move forward.

Chakra

Solar Plexus, supported by the Heart

For this practice, I especially love bringing these two energy centers together—allowing our confidence and personal power to remain connected to compassion, authenticity, and the wisdom of the heart.

🌿 Closing Your Ritual

When you feel complete, return your awareness to your breath.

Feel your body supported beneath you.

Feel your feet connected to the earth.

Take a moment to offer gratitude—to the Sun, to whatever spiritual support you personally work with, and to yourself for creating this time to reconnect.

If you've lit a candle, gently extinguish it.

Take a drink of water or tea.

Stretch.

Step outside for a few moments if that feels supportive.

And then allow yourself to return to your day slowly.

You don't need to leave your ritual feeling dramatically different.

Sometimes the shift is subtle.

A little more clarity.

A little more courage.

A little more connection with yourself.

Carry that with you.

☀️ A Final Reflection

Solar energy reminds us that light can be both powerful and gentle.

The Sun doesn't need to prove that it shines.

It simply does.

Perhaps there is something within that symbolism for each of us.

Your gifts don't need to look like anyone else's.

Your confidence doesn't have to be loud.

Your joy doesn't need to be justified.

And your personal power doesn't require you to become harder, stronger, or less compassionate.

You are allowed to take up your own sacred space while remaining deeply connected to your heart.

Return to this ritual whenever you need a reminder of that.

When you've forgotten your strength.

When you're beginning something new.

When you're standing at the edge of an opportunity.

When joy feels distant.

Or simply when you want to spend a little time reconnecting with the warm, steady light that lives within you.

May you trust that light.

May you nurture it.

And may you allow it to guide you home to yourself, again and again.
